Your contacts MSN Messenger version is probably lower then version 6.0. Tell your friends to download the newer version of MSN Messenger here!
Tell your friends to check out their current MSN Messenger version by doing this: Open MSN Messenger > Help > About MSN Messenger. They will see this screen:
